Pan-Seared Maple Garlic Glazed Carrots
Often times, simple is better. And, that certainly rings true for these Pan-Seared Maple Garlic Glazed Carrots. Don’t let all of the words in the recipe title scare you - these come together super quick, and pack tons of flavor. These are made on the stovetop, and require little attention. They have a hint of sweetness, a touch of savoriness and will make the perfect addition to any entree. Add these to your next dinner party menu!
“So, what are we making?”
Carrots are a vegetable I didn’t realize were as versatile as they are. They can hold up to so many things, including this sweet and savory maple garlic glaze. You can add anything you’d like to this glaze - you just need something with some sugar content to help the caramelization process. Have some fun!
For this recipe, I’m opting to use full carrots, but you could easily use any type of carrot you have at home. Just note, depending on the size of your carrots, the cooking time may vary.
“What do I need?”
6 carrots, peeled & quartered
1 tablespoon olive oil
Pinch of dried chives
Pinch of salt & pepper
2 tablespoons stock
1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
1 teaspoon chili oil
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon minced garlic
“How do I make these?”
Step One: Wash and peel your whole carrots. Then, cut them in half. And then, cut the halves in half.
Step Two: Heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil in a cast-iron skillet. Then, add in your carrots. Season with salt, pepper and some chives. Let sit for 5-10 minutes, or until the bottoms of the carrots begin to char. Then, turn carrots over. Let sit for 5-10 minutes, or until the other side begins to char.
Step Three: While the carrots are hanging out, make the glaze. Whisk together 2 tablespoons stock, 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup , 1 teaspoon chili oil (optional), 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce and 1 teaspoon minced garlic
Step Four: As carrots are roasted, add in the glaze to your pan. Stir the carrots to ensure they are all covered, and let them hang out for 5-10 minutes to help the carrots soften.
Step Five: Garnish with parsley!
